About Sorcini by Design LLC
Finding artwork with depth, meaning, and professional integrity can be difficult. At Sorcini by Design LLC, I solve that by creating mixed-media artworks for sale that are grounded in decades of artistic practice, education, and real-world experience. My work reflects a lifetime dedicated to fine art, community service, education, and contemporary visual communication.
Artist Statement
My artwork evolves from my life experiences, the things I have found important, the people and places that have left an impression on me, the things that have made me happy, and the people who have hurt me. The poverty, illnesses from poverty, and the people I saw die from that poverty. These things left an impression on my life and art.My art is the result of these experiences. It is complex in composition. Each artwork, painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, or graphics is interwoven in meaning, linear, forms, color, and negative and positive space. I may go into detail to explain my process, but I prefer that my audience find the meaning for themselves. In my experience, I have been surprised by the meaning my audience has interpreted from my work.
The Artist Behind the Work
I am a management professional, educator, community activist, and commercial artist specializing in contemporary visual communication. My background combines aesthetic expression with practical design, allowing me to create art that connects emotionally while maintaining professional standards.
A Lifetime of Artistic and Professional Experience
I bring over fifty years of experience in real-time production systems, customer support, and the pre-press industry for small businesses. My expertise spans fine art, computer graphics, multimedia applications, website design, and pre-press production. This foundation strengthens the quality and longevity of the mixed-media artworks for sale that I offer today.
Artistic Influences
My earliest influences were the studies and artwork of Leonardo Da Vinci, especially for his studies in anatomy and composition. Caravaggio for his dynamic paintings illustrating illumination and powerful compositions. I saw his portrait by Ottavio Leoni 1621 in a book I purchased, and I was captivated by the idea of a man rouge yet a master of his art. I can’t think of a contemporary artist that was not influence by Pablo Picsso and Salvatore Dali, I was fortunate to have an Art Residency in Spain where I visited the Pablo Picasso museum and experience the dynamic influence of African Art and the way his compositions were visually grabbing. Salvatore Dali’s museum of bread was an iconic presentation to his surreal influence, though subtle in my artwork is a the core of my artistic makeup.
Education, Teaching, and Creative Leadership
I have taught fine arts, art history, commercial art, and industrial arts at both secondary and college levels. My teaching roles include UCLA Extension Art School, Cal State Los Angeles, Pasadena City College, Antelope Valley College, and several California school districts. I have instructed painting, drawing, photography, figure studies, silkscreen, and contemporary art theory with a focus on skill, discipline, and creative growth.
